Filesystem

Understand your 50 GB personal Linux home, its shared folders, and the ways Files, Terminal, and your agent access it.

Your endOS home directory is a full Linux home for your user. Browse it primarily through the Files app; Terminal and your agent work with the same paths.

Storage quota

Each user in an Endstack workspace receives 50 GB for their personal filesystem, including their home directory and private desktop storage.

Team Drive storage is separate from your personal quota. Each workspace has a 50 GB Team Drive; see Team Drive and sharing.

Access your files

You can reach the same filesystem in several ways:

  • Open Files from the dock or app launcher.
  • Open selected files and folders from their desktop icons.
  • Use $HOME from Terminal or agent tools.

Filesystem locations

LocationPurpose
Home ($HOME)Your private files. These count toward your personal 50 GB quota.
Team Drive (~/Team Drive)The workspace-shared folder.
Shared with me (~/Shared with me)Files and folders that other people shared with you, including files shared in channels.
DotfilesFiles and folders whose names begin with a dot (.). They remain hidden unless Show hidden files is on.

For details about shared storage and access, see Team Drive and sharing.

Work in Files

Available actions depend on what you select. From Files, you can:

  • Navigate folders and open files in Writer, Viewer, EndCode, or Chrome as appropriate.
  • Upload and download files.
  • Create folders and documents.
  • Share an item with selected teammates or the entire workspace.
  • Choose Create Channel for a selection.
  • Move items to trash or delete them permanently. Agent file tools can perform both actions as well.

Show hidden files

Open Settings → Desktop, then turn on Show hidden files. Files and folders whose names begin with a dot will appear both on the desktop and in Files.
