Desktop overview
Learn how the endOS desktop, dock, menu bar, search, files, and built-in apps fit together.
endOS is the desktop environment for your Endstack workspace. It brings windows, the dock, the menu bar, files, and native apps together in the browser, with companion mobile clients where available.
Find your way around
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Desktop | Shows your icons and wallpaper and provides the main surface for window management. |
| Dock | Launches apps and includes the Channels strip and agent activity indicator. |
| Menu bar | Provides system and window menus. |
| Spotlight | Searches apps, files, channels, people, and messages. |
| Apps overlay | Opens the app launcher. |
The desktop is the center of your workspace, but every part works with the same files and apps. For example, a file you create from Terminal appears in Files, and a document you open from Files can launch in Writer, Viewer, EndCode, or Chrome as appropriate.
